Esso Fun Days

ESSO FUN DAY GRACEFemales of all ages are lacing up their skates! Hockey is fun, safe, focused on fair play and fantastic exercise, and it's a great way to make new and lifelong friends.

Whether you are young or old, experienced or new to the game, there are opportunities for everyone to play female hockey.

Through female hockey, players experience passion, exhilaration and excitement. They are given opportunities to learn and improve technical skills, challenge themselves, have fun and make new friends.

Hockey Canada Skills Camps were developed to provide players with an opportunity to enhance their fundamental skills in a positive learning environment. The primary focus of the camps is centered on on-ice fundamental skills and off-ice life skill enhancement in the areas of fitness, teamwork and respect.

The Esso Fun Days program is unique to female hockey because it presents and introduces the basic fundamental skills and rules of the game to first-time female participants of all ages for no cost.

The focus of the program is for participants to learn the basic skills, make new friends and give hockey a try without having to commit for an entire season.

Since 1998 the Esso Fun Days program has introduced thousands of girls and women to the great game of hockey. In an attempt to make the program more accessible for females of all ages, each branch will have the opportunity to host events funded by Esso and Hockey Canada.

If your community and minor hockey association would like to host an Esso Fun Day, please contact your provincial branch.

"I play hockey because I love everything about the game - the emotion, discipline, skill and teamwork."
– Hayley Wickenheiser, National Women’s Team

“I play hockey because of the feeling of being able to participate in a sport I grew up watching at a very young age and now have the opportunity to play the game for me. I drive myself to the rink, get dressed and get to play the game of hockey with a bunch of fantastic ladies. There are usually no fans in the stands watching us, but it doesn’t bother us one bit, as this is all about having fun playing the game we all adore – Canada’s sport of hockey!”
– Judy Roper, 48 years old, Mother Puckers, Moncton, N.B.
