NHL/NHLPA First Shift Sledge Hockey Announcement!

For the first time, Hockey New Brunswick will be offering an NHL/ NHLPA First Shift sledge hockey program for participants 6-18 years old. Participants will receive a full set of hockey equipment, sled rental and 6 on ice sessions beginning in November.

“The NHL/NHLPA FIRST SHIFT program is designed to ensure a positive experience for new-to-hockey families. We want families to experience the game at its best — to understand why so many Canadians feel an inherent love for the sport, and to stimulate a desire for continued participation. We want to take away any intimidation as it relates to equipment requirements, and/or rules of the game, remove potential safety concerns, and most importantly, provide an experience that is memorable and fun.”

The 6 on ice session will take place in Fredericton, NB at the Grant Harvey Centre. The on-ice sessions will be led by players and coaches from the Capital City Region Caps sledge hockey team.

The equipment and sled sizing event will be on October 16th at 3:00 pm in Fredericton.

Sessions will all be at 2:30 on Sundays at the Grant Harvey Centre:

November 6th, 13th, 20th,

December 4th, 11th,18th
