Moncton Rockets won the Female Bantam AAA Atlantic Championship

Congratulations to the Moncton Rockets who won the Female Bantam AAA Atlantic Championship this weekend in Clarenville, NL.  The Rockets won the Gold Medal game with a 1-0 overtime win over the Fundy Highland Subway Selects.

Station Fire Six claim the 2019 Midget Female AAA Atlantic Championship

Bathurst, NB – The 2019 Female Midget AAA Atlantic Championship wrapped up today in Bathurst, NB with the Station Fire Six winning a hard-fought battle against the Northern Lightning by a score of 5-2.

In the Bronze Medal Game, the Prince Edward Island Representative Western Wind defeated the Newfoundland representative, Eastern Ice Breakers by a score of 3-1. 

Also, taking place Saturday night was the Midget Female AAA Atlantic Championship Awards Banquet. The teams were fortunate to have former Team Canada player Charline Labonté on hand to talk to them about her hockey experiences and had great advice for all the players and coaches. The award winners were as follows:

  • ·Most Valuable Player –Ellen Laurence - Station Six Fire
  • ·Top Forward –Mireille Martin - Northern Lightning
  • ·Top Defence –Allie Barter - Station Six Fire
  • ·Top Goaltender –Ameilia Awad - Station Six Fire
  • ·Top Scorer –Erica Plourde - Northern Lightning

The 2019 Midget Female AAA Atlantics were a great success with great hockey put on by all the teams representing their respective provinces. The host committee and the Northern Lightning would like to thank all the sponsors and teams for a great weekend of hockey.

Male Under 16 Team Heading to Red Deer for 2019 Canada Winter Games

Hockey New Brunswick Male Under 16 Team Heading to Red Deer for 2019 Canada Winter Games.

Moncton, NB – The Hockey New Brunswick Male U16 Team will begin its quest for a gold medal at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, AB on February 16th. The team will be practicing in Moncton prior to flying to Red Deer on February 14th. The team will be competing at the games from February 16th – 22nd.

Team New Brunswick will start its round robin portion of the tournament on Saturday February 16th when they take on Quebec, followed by Ontario on the 17th, and Nova Scotia on the 18th.

The coaching staff have also announced the Captains for the team prior to flying to Red Deer:

Captain – David Doucet

Assistants – Drew Elliott, Cole Fraser, and Peter Reynolds.
